Message on the occasion of the meeting in Berlin
Dear compatriots,
Prince Reza Pahlavi, in his recent message addressed to European countries, spoke candidly in criticizing European governments, emphasizing that many of them are failing to fulfill their responsibilities in supporting the process of democracy in Iran. He stated clearly that the people of Iran will continue their struggle for freedom, with or without Europe’s support. He has also rightly pointed out on several occasions that, in many interviews, journalists do not address the crimes of the Islamic Republic—particularly those that occurred this past January—something that may indicate a lack of attention or political considerations.
These circumstances show that we, the people of Iran, must support Prince Reza Pahlavi’s efforts for a transition away from the Islamic Republic more than ever before, and take more serious steps toward achieving democracy and establishing a secular state. At the same time, it is appropriate to appreciate those European politicians who, with a realistic perspective, have supported the freedom of the Iranian people—including Mr. Armin Laschet of Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Mr. Andreas Minich of the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), as well as other politicians who believe that a free Iran can play a decisive role in the stability of the Middle East and global security.
Today, more than ever, it is clear that Iran’s future lies not in the continuation of religious authoritarianism, but in freedom, the rule of law, the separation of religion from government, and national sovereignty. With hope, unity, and collective effort, we can, under the leadership of Prince Reza Pahlavi, achieve a free, prosperous, and secular democratic Iran.
Long live Iran
